Helen has fished most all her life, starting in Puget Sound and around the San Juan Islands with her father.

She went north to Alaska and fished the waters of Kodiak Island for 20 years for salmon, crab, and longlining halibut.

Being one of the first women hired on commercial boats, she worked her way to the top being "high liners" for longlining halibut for three years running.

Helen moved to Gold Beach Oregon -- and what better thing to do but become a salmon & steelhead fishing guide on

the pristine Rogue River for the past 11+ years.

She's been on top a couple of times with landing the largest salmon of 54 1/2 lbs the year of 2001. She landed the largest Spring Chinook one year of 42 lbs.

Helen's been on the cover of the Steelheaders Magazine and was also in a book called Surviving Alaska Wild. Many articles in the Curry County Reporter along with the Ruralite magazine, have mentioned Helen and her catches.
